Municipal Sludge Treatment Technology

Depending on strong R & D and system integration capability, Eguard combines advanced technologies from worldwide with the domestic manufacture technologies and experiences, and thus developed sludge aerobic composting, fluidized bed incineration and sludge drying technologies and processes, which provides our clients with a complete set of reasonable-investment reliable-technology solution that eliminates our clients’ worry on sludge pollution.

Main methods of treatment for sludge

Landfilling
Sanitary landfill technology for sludge treatment started from 1960’s and gradually becomes mature currently.
Due to its high water content, sludge is not suitable for mechanic crashing or rolling mixing. It is also easily jammed in biogas and leachate collection pipes. Therefore, the water content of the sludge to be landfilled should be no more than 30%.

Composting
The humus transformed from the organics in the sludge is a good soil conditioner; the N, P, K and microelements in the sludge will increase the output of produces. In case the heavy metal content is within the limit and does not lead to bad effects, the compost from the sludge can be applied directly in soil.

Incineration
Incineration is the most thorough treatment method which can carbonize all the organics, kill pathogens, and maximize the reduction of sludge volume. In order to reduce the investment and operation costs, Eguard applies the world-popular fluidized bed incineration technology.

Sludge drying
Sludge drying is the pre-treatment method for other treatments such as recycling or incineration. The drying process needs to avoid the uneven drying and sludge hardening, which requires high-level technology and precision, and has large fuel consumption and high operation costs.
